Vision Statement
To be a community of followers of Christ, individually and collectively dedicated to continue our daily walk of discipleship. To live out the Truth of the Scriptures before our larger community, and be ambassadors of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, thus making a contribution to the Great Commission of Christ.
The Church’s Goals
The goals of the church are two-fold:
1. To function as the Body of Christ
We are members of one body, the Body of Christ. (Eph 3:6) We are a community within a community. As a body we foster an environment of love and peace with each other. This encourages each of us individually and corporately to nurture our relationship with Christ.
2. To be a light to our larger community
A city set upon a hill cannot be hidden. We must live out the prayer of Jesus in John 17:21, that we "may be one ... so that the world may believe". So we need to be the Fethiye Community Church, to be known by our larger community and so be used to spread the love of Jesus Christ.
Statement of Faith
In this document we state a "starting point", a foundation which defines a Christian
God is sovereign over all the earth, and exists eternally as: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Job 34:12-15, John 14:23-26)
Who is God?
"The Lord our God, is One God", uncreated, eternal, all-powerful, all-knowing, and we are to "Love the Lord our God with all of our heart, and with all our soul, and with all our strength" (Deut 6:4)
Who is Jesus Christ?
The Lord our God took on human form in His son, Jesus Christ, to bring us into relationship with Himself. The sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross, as a sinless man, yet precious God, paid the price for our sin and provides the way to the Father. He was born of the virgin Mary, was crucified, resurrected, and shall return in power and glory. (John 3:17, Rom 5:8-9, John 14:6)
Who is the Holy Spirit?
The Lord our God places within us, His Holy Spirit to live within us and to be with us forever. To lead us into all Truth, empower us to live as members of the Kingdom of God on earth, to help us in our weakness, and to intercede for us before God. (John 14:26, Acts 1:8, Rom 8:26).
What is the Bible?
The Bible is the Holy Scripture where God reveals his character, his purposes, and Himself. These Holy Scriptures apply to our lives today. (2 Tim 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1:21)
How are we expected to act?
Our Lord Jesus commands us to "Love the Lord our God with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength" and to "Love our neighbor as we love ourselves" this summarizes all the law and prophets. (Mt 22:37-40)
